Big Box 96!
The Crayola Song: Darn, it's Spiffy

So Liz and her camp roommate, excited by the possibilities that 96 colors (midnight blue! jungle green! razzmatazz! wisteria!) offerred, decided to pay their tribute with a song. There were a couple of problems, including that neither of them can actually write a song, but regardless, the finished product was nearly as cute as they are. The best part, though, is that you can add infinitely many verses before the last one, so it's never technically done. So here are the lyrics as they stand now. (The tune is really indescribable, particularly as it changes with each verse, and sometimes in the middle of a verse, so this'll have to do for now.) lalala. Crayons for everyone.

(Oh, by the way, it's supposed to have a title but it doesn't because "Big Box 96", its original title, just isn't that cool. Suggestions welcomed.) (Coming soon, maybe, Vicki's "rebuttal" to the Crayola Song)

Liz:
I was coloring all alone
When I picked out a crayon on my own
Guess which color spoke to me?
Liz and Beth:
IT'S ATOMIC TANGERINE!
Liz:
With my atomic tangerine I can draw a clown
With its bright orange hair and never a frown
its got brick red shoes
and an orchid kazoo
in which to hum
and a big bow tie
Liz and Beth:
LET'S MAKE IT PLUM!
MY OH MY OH MY

Beth and (Liz)
With my big box (96 colors)
Got my big box (96 colors)
I can draw dirty socks (Big Box)
Or ugly old rocks (Big Box)
Liz and Beth:
I DON'T NEED NO SMOCK WITH MY CRAYOLA BIG BOX!

Liz:
Now I'd like to draw a cat
I'll make it bright blue
Liz and Beth:
How 'bout that?
Liz:
Hey, it turned out okay, but this makes me wanna say...
Liz and Beth:
Don't you think that cadet blue is kind of...grey??

Beth and (Liz):
With my big box (96 colors)
Got my big box (96 colors)
I can draw goldilocks (Big Box)
Or a fiery red fox [sometimes "a bagel with lox" is substituted](Big Box)
Liz and Beth:
I DON'T NEED NO SMOCK WITH MY CRAYOLA BIG BOX!

Liz:
Now it's time to go to sleep
But I know I'll be coloring in my dreams
I keep my big box next to my bed
And I've got 96 colors swimming in my head...

So that is our song. We like it, and we like our crayons, and we're not ashamed to say it. Grrrr. (I made some pretty illustrations for this song--soon I want to scan them.)
